Students may explore a specific biblical text or theological concept directly, or apply the Bible and theology to questions of worldview, apologetics, or ethics. Essays will be judged according to style, clarity, depth of thought, and strength of argument or exposition.
Applicants are encouraged to read the Union University Statement of Faith. Essays submitted will be read in light of our statement of faith.

Publicity agreement: If I am selected as a contest winner, I agree for the purposes of publicity, to be photographed and named in/on local media such as newspapers and radio as well as social media such as the Union University website and Facebook page.
Publishing agreement: By submitting your essay you are agreeing for your essay to be published in a volume by Union University Press if it is selected. Upon acceptance of the essay for publication, the author (and their parent or legal guardian if they are under the age of 18) will be required to sign an agreement allowing Union University to publish and copyright the publication. Authors of the selected essays will not be paid for the publication.
