    Bible and Theology Essay Contest

    Open to High School Juniors and Seniors

    Students may explore a specific biblical text or theological concept directly, or apply the Bible and theology to questions of worldview, apologetics, or ethics. Essays will be judged according to style, clarity, depth of thought, and strength of argument or exposition.

    Applicants are encouraged to read the Union University Statement of Faith. Essays submitted will be read in light of our statement of faith.

    Guidelines and Expectations
    • Length: 1,500 words max
    • Sources: minimum of three academic sources
    • Deadline: essays due December 1, 2026

    Formatting Your Essay
    • Place the title of the essay and your name and personal information on a title page (the first page). No other personal identification should appear in the body of the paper. Number the pages in the upper right corner.
    • Use Times New Roman, 12 pt.
    • Use 1-inch margins on the top, bottom, and sides, with 1.5 line spacing.
